Hope College guard Dante Hawkins has been chosen Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played the week of February 6.

The junior from Holland, Michigan (Holland HS) is receiving the award for the second time this season and the second time in his career. He previously was honored on December 27, 2016.

Hawkins averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds over two MIAA victories last week to just 2.0 turnovers per game in the stretch.

He played 42 of 45 possible minutes, shooting 9-of-16 from the field (56.3 percent) and 3-of-5 from the foul line (60 percent). He sank three 3-pointers.

Hawkins followed up with a 16-point, seven-assist performance in an 82-62 win at Adrian on Saturday. He went 5-of-9 from the floor (55.6 percent) with three 3-pointers and hit 3-of-4 free throws (75 percent).
