Hope College kicker Darren Ford has been recognized as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance during a 36-14 victory against Alma College on Saturday.
The senior from Howell, Michigan (Howell HS) booted three field goals, three point-after
attempts and four touchbacks on kickoffs for the Flying Dutchmen amid a driving rainstorm
at Ray & Sue Smith Stadium. This is the second time this season Ford has received
the award and the sixth time in his career.
Ford made field goals of 22, 34, and 34 yards. The pair of 34-yarders were into a
stiff, second-quarter wind.
Ford averaged 62.4 yards per kickoff attempt. He also punted four times for an average
of 46.3 yards.
