Hope College’s Josh Gibson has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Golfer of the Week for the second consecutive time.
The junior from Grandville, Michigan (Grandville) earned the award for play September 11-17 after averaging 64.5 strokes over two rounds while earning medalist honors at the Adrian College Irish Hills Invitational.
Gibson shot a school-record, 11-under-par round of 61 on Friday at Grande Golf Club in Jackson and a 68 on Saturday to help the Flying Dutchmen win the tournament by 37 strokes.
On Friday, Gibson recorded 1 eagle, 10 birdies, 6 pars and one bogey. He shattered Hope’s previous best for a round of 65.
This is the fourth time in his career Gibson has claimed the MIAA’s weekly honor.
