The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association co-champion Hope College softball team has received an at-large berth to the 62-team NCAA Division III Tournament.
Head coach Mary VandeHoef’s Flying Dutch will make their seventh postseason appearance
this week at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater regional.
Hope (23-15 overall) drew a first-round game against No. 9 Wisconsin-Whitewater (36-7)
on Thursday, May 11 at a time to be announced. Thursday’s other first-round game will
pit No. 14 Trine (32-8) against Greenville, Illinois (19-14).
The three-day, double-elimination continues on Friday-Saturday, May 12-13.
The winner advances to the super regional on Friday-Saturday, May 19-20.
Eight super regional winners advances to the Thursday-Tuesday, May 25-30 NCAA Division
III Championship in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Hope joins previous Flying Dutch NCAA Tournament qualifiers from 2015, 2006, 1996,
1995, 1992 and 1991.
The Flying Dutch reached the regional finals in 2015 and the national tournament in
1995 and 1991.
