Hope College’s Paige Baker and Sophie Hackett made their presence known on the volleyball court this season.

The Flying Dutch pair were rewarded for their performances during the 2017 season with Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association honors from the league’s coaches. They were among eight first-team selections.
Baker and Hackett were joined by two teammates who received second-team recognition: senior Haley Muller of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian HS) and Katie Rietberg of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa). 

Hope finished MIAA play with a second-place, 12-4 league record and placed runner-up at the MIAA Tournament. 

Baker tied for fourth in the MIAA at 0.84 blocks per set over 16 league matches. The senior from Encinitas, California (La Costa Canyon) also tied for 12th in MIAA at 2.51 kills per set. 

Hackett averaged 9.60 per assists per set in league play this season and ranked second among MIAA setters. The senior from Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit) also collected 3.07 digs and 0.33 service aces per set in MIAA play. 

Muller finished sixth in kills per set in MIAA matches at 2.80. She also averaged 2.37 digs per set. 

Rietberg was ninth among MIAA hitters at 2.70 kills per set.
