The Hope College women’s and men’s swimming & diving teams have claimed Scholar All-America honors from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association for the 2017 spring semester.

Coach John Patnott’s Flying Dutch and Flying Dutchmen were among a record 720 teams to achieve the distinction by recording at least a 3.0 grade point average during the semester. 

Additionally, three women’s swimmers and one women’s diver earned Honorable Mention Scholar All-America honors by posting a GPA of 3.50 or higher and either clocking a NCAA Division III Championship ‘B’ qualifying standard or competing in a regional meet. 

Hope swimmers recognized were senior Molly Meyer of South Bend, Indiana (John Adams HS), junior Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn), and freshman Paula Nolte of Elmhurst, Illinois (York Community). The diver honored was sophomore Sara Plohetski of South Lyon, Michigan (South Lyon). 

The Flying Dutch posted a team GPA of 3.46. The Flying Dutchmen recorded a team GPA of 3.10. 

Both teams were CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams for the 2016 semester as well.
