Lunar New Year Jazz ConcertLunar New Year Jazz Concert

Hope College will present the fourth concert in the Stafford Hunter’s Jazz Concert Series on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

Visiting faculty member Stafford Hunter worked with the Hope College’s Asian Student Union (ASU) to create this concert celebrating the Lunar New Year 2022 with the title, “Celebrating Asian Diversity in Holland.”

The event will present a taste of music and foods from various Asian cultures represented by many students and faculty. In addition to jazz arrangements created by Hunter, the concert will also include narration by students of the ASU for historical background and cultural significance. After the concert, food will be offered representing the various Asian countries of ASU members.

The concert will feature Hope faculty and guest artists including Lisa Sung (piano), Jung Woo Kim (voice), Joy Gregson (flute), Kazuki Takemura (bass), David Alvarez III (drums) and Hunter (trombone and shells).
