Hope College will honor 10 young alumni with its annual “10 Under 10 Awards” on Friday, Oct. 25, during the college’s “One Big Weekend (Homecoming + Family Weekend)” celebration.

They will be honored during a reception on Friday, Oct. 25, from 7 p.m. to 9 during an Under 10 Soirée at Piek Events on the fifth floor of the Tulyp Hotel.  They will also participate in a panel discussion earlier in the day on Friday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m. in Winants Auditorium of Graves Hall, during which they will share perspective based on their educational and professional journeys.

Admission is free to both events, although advance registration is required for the evening reception.  Registration is available through hope.edu/onebigweekend

The alumni being honored are:  Gabrielle Barber ’19, assistant appellate defender, State Appellate Defender Office, Detroit; Elisabeth Brewington ’14, executive administrator, PrimeCare Health; Kaleigh Doan ’16, instructional designer, AuditBoard; Kyle Funk ’18, senior program specialist for infrastructure and transportation solutions, National League of Cities; Julian Lugo ’20, director of youth programs and advancement, Latin Americans United for Progress; Raquel Mendizabal Martell ’15, market research project manager, Applied Marketing Science; Marvin Solberg ’15, assistant professor at the University of Michigan School of Nursing; Grace Theisen ’14, musician, nonprofit co-founder; Holly N. The “10 Under 10 Awards” honor emerging leaders who are making significant contributions by living out their callings; engaged in the local and global community through professional and/or volunteer involvement; and use their education to think about important issues with wisdom and clarity, communicate effectively to bridge boundaries that divide human communities and act as agents of hope living faithfully into their vocations.  Designed for alumni who are within 10 years of graduation, they are presented by the Hope College Alumni Association.

The annual awards which debuted in the fall of 2018, succeeded the Hope College Alumni Association’s Young Alumni Award program that ran from 2007 through 2017.  Recipients are chosen by a committee of Alumni Board members, faculty and staff from among nominations made by members of the extended Hope community.  More information about the “10 Under 10 Awards” program and a nomination form are available at hope.edu/alumni/awards
