Campus Sustainability

Hope College is committed to making our campus one of the most beautiful in Michigan, and more environmentally sustainable.

Please review our informational pages to learn more about what we're doing to create a more sustainable community for all:

We also want to use our campus as a demonstration for how we can all make choices that follow along with environmental stewardship.

Hope is among the institutions that have signed the international Talloires Declaration, a 10-point plan for incorporating sustainability and environmental literacy in teaching, research, operations and outreach at colleges and universities.

The Hope College community appreciates God's gift of creation and believes we show respect for God's world through conscientious stewardship of the earth's resources. This stewardship includes considering the theological connections with our environment, critical examination of our own consumption habits and advocacy for an ecologically just world. Care of creation is part of our call to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with our God (Micah 6:8).
