Greenhouse Gas Inventory

We’re working to lower our carbon footprint by reducing our use of electricity and natural gases.

Hope College's greenhouse gas inventory demonstrates that while our campus square footage has been increasing since 2005, our metric tons of CO2e per student (full-time equivelent) has been reduced because of careful planning and efficiency upgrades.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from generating power, treating waste, daily commuting, and even the use of paper, contribute to a campus' carbon footprint. Reducing these greenhouse gas emissions will help slow the effects of climate change and global warming.

Hope has three solar panel systems on campus of varying sizes. Read about the largest and most recent installation and see data about the energy generation at this location.
