Larry Malfroid received his early training at GRCC and Reformed Bible College. He took an independent study of music history at Aquinas College. Additional studies included work in solfeggio with A.A. Biferno of the G.R. Symphony, master classes with Jeffrey Van and world renowned guitar virtuoso Christopher Parkening, in which he was chosen to play in recital and asked to return the following year.
He is a past performing member of the St. Cecilia Music Society and has appeared on their Michigan Artist Series in 1987. As a soloist, he was one of 150 West Michigan artists chosen to perform in the first state-wide arts festival in Detroit. Other performances have included a guitar concerto with the St. Claire Shores Symphony, and performances on numerous radio and television programs. In 1995, he went on tour with the Hope College Symphonette performing with the orchestra in New York and Ohio.
