Lisa Sung
Adjunct Faculty
Lisa Sung is an award winning jazz educator and a performer.
Ms. Sung has performed and recorded with Terell Stafford, Rodney Whitaker, Ron McClure, Stafford Hunter, Rob Smith, Thomas Knific, Diego Rivera, Dmitri Methany, Jordan VanHemert, John Webber and many others. Her passion is to interpret Asian Melodie into jazz, and she recently recorded an album of Korean children’s songs.
Lisa is an adjunct professor of jazz studies at Hope College, Calvin University and Aquinas College. She also co- directs the Calvin University gospel choir. Lisa studied at Temple University with Terell Stafford and Thomas Lawton, and pursued graduate studies at NYU with Ron McClure, Don Friedman and Dave Schroeder. Ms. Sung recently received the John Stites Jazz Award.
With JSJA sponsoring, she had a successful Indonesia tour. She plans to tour Korea, Vietnam and the Philippines to give master classes and concerts.
