Scott provides leadership in implementing institutional strategic projects and lifelong learning programs. He serves as a partner for colleagues and a champion of innovation and change management across campus, acting as an analyst, consultant and executive-level project manager within the Office of Strategic Initiatives.
Since 2016, he has served as the college’s administrator for the Hope Academy of Senior Professionals and leads efforts to expand lifelong learning opportunities to new audiences, including the continued growth of the Global Travel Program. He is a consultant with the Office of Possibilities, providing campus-wide workshops and support to effectively manage change. He is also supporting the development of Hope’s next institutional strategic plan.
Professional Experience
Before starting his career in alumni and family engagement at Hope, Scott was a small-business owner and worked in media relations for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He coordinated conferences on campus and helped organize a centralized ticket office when DeVos Fieldhouse first opened.
Working with or leading alumni and family programs for over 15 years, he has been committed to Hope throughout his career. He has collaborated with colleagues, campus partners, the Alumni Association Board of Directors and the Parents’ Council to facilitate the creation of Hope’s Economic Impact Study, Campus Master Plan, Day of Giving, One Big Weekend, First Generation Student Union, Boerigter Center for Calling and Career, Hope College Connection and DiscoverWork career networking programs, Alumni of Color Advisory Council, remodel of the lower level of the DeWitt Center, and other efforts that continue to engage our 37,000 alumni and our students’ families.
He has also served as a First Year Seminar instructor and academic advisor and has presented at numerous higher education conferences on the topic of program development, strategic planning and analytics. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as Testing Team Lead and worked to provide a safe, in-person, residential college experience, which led to the publication of our approach in Frontiers in Public Health.
