Several Hope College students earned honors during the annual auditions held by the Michigan State Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing on Saturday, March 20, at Grand Valley State University.

          Approximately 150 from around the state competed.
  First-, second- and third-place winners received cash
  awards.
          Megan Hicks, a senior from Trabuco Canyon, Calif.,
  received first place in the "Fourth-Year College Women"
  category.  Meredith Arwady, a junior from Kalamazoo,
  received first place in the "Third-Year College Women"
  category, with junior Renee Meyer of Mount Vernon, Iowa,
  taking second place, junior Joni Norwood of Twin Lake taking
  third place and junior Joy Eisenga of McBain earning
  Honorable Mention.
          Greg Frens, a junior from Grand Rapids, received
  second place in the "Second Year College Men" category,
  while sophomore Anne Houseworth of Alanson received
  Honorable Mention in the "Second-Year College Women"
  category.
          Sarah Proulx, a freshman from Ionia, received
  Honorable Mention in the "First-Year College Women"
  category.
          In the "Musical Theater-Women" category, junior
  Rebecca DeVries of Fishers, Ind., and sophomore Sarah Clare
  Meyer of Ypsilanti tied for first place, with sophomore
  Jennifer Kaufmann of Okemos receiving Honorable Mention.
  Quincy Marr, a freshman from Gridley, Ill., received first
  place in the "Musical Theater-Men" category.
          All of the students study voice with Hope faculty
  members Margaret Kennedy-Dygas and Linda Dykstra.
