Women's experience of racism will be the focus of a film and discussion presented through the "Dialogue on Race Series" at Hope College on Tuesday, March 4, at 7 p.m. in the Maas Center conference room.
Women's experience of racism will be the focus of a film and discussion presented through the "Dialogue on Race Series" at Hope College on Tuesday, March 4, at 7 p.m. in the Maas Center conference room.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
The film "The Way Home: Race, Gender, and Class in America" examines how 64 women representing a cross- section of cultures--Indigenous, African-American, Arab, Asian, European American, Jewish, Latina and multracial-- have experienced racism in America. Topics include resistance, love, assimilation, standards of beauty, power and school experiences.
The audience discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Jane Dickie, professor of psychology and director of women's studies at Hope.
The event has been scheduled in conjunction with national Women's History Month, which is March.
The Maas Center is located on Columbia Avenue at 11th Street.
