After opening with a win, the doubles team of Dan Mann and Kevney Dugan bowed in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III men's tennis championships Saturday in St. Peter, Minn.

The Hope team defeated Andy Campbell and Duncan Howell of Rhodes, Tenn., 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the round of eight.

In the quarterfinals, they were defeated by third-seeded Ron Condiotty and Brian Murphy of Redlands, Calif., 7-6 (4), 6-1

The MIAA champion doubles team posted a 16-4 record this spring. Together, Mann/Dugan were 34-10 the past two seasons.

Coach Steve Gorno's Flying Dutchmen were co-champions of the MIAA this spring for the first time since 1962. Mann/Dugan were the first Hope doubles team to qualify for the nationals since 1990.
