Ten Hope College athletic teams have been presented the MIAA Team GPA Award for outstanding academic achievement during the 2002-03 school year.

The award is presented to conference teams that achieve a cumulative 3.300 or better grade point average for an entire academic year. The award is administered by the Faculty Athletic Representatives of the MIAA member colleges.

All nine Hope women's athletic teams earned the distinction. The highest cumulative GPA was achieved by the women's golf team at 3.527 on a 4.0 scale.

Other teams honored include women's cross country (3.525), women's tennis (3.523), women's basketball (3.507), women's swimming & diving (3.498), volleyball (3.456), men's golf (3.430), women's soccer (3.426), women's track and field (3.425), and softball (3.417).

The MIAA team GPA award program was initiated in 1998-99. Five Hope teams have received the honor every year (five consecutive years) -- women's cross country, women's tennis, women's swimming & diving, women's soccer, women's track & field.
