The Michigan Intercollegiate Honor Band will perform at Hope College on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

Created in 1972, the Michigan Intercollegiate Honor Band meets annually on the campus of one of the participating schools, which include Albion, Calvin, Cornerstone, Grand Valley, Hillsdale, Hope and Spring Arbor colleges.

Top band members from the participating schools are nominated by their directors. Numbering nearly 75 members, the honor band offers a unique opportunity to hear a collaboration of outstanding college musicians under the direction of a visiting conductor.

Allan McMurray from the University of Colorado will be the guest conductor. McMurray is chair of the conducting faculty, director of bands, and the Robert and Judy Charles Professor of Music, and has been a featured visiting professor at more than 200 universities and conservatories.

The program includes Pyotr Tchaikovsky 's "Dance of the Jesters" and "First Suite in E flat" by Gustav Holst.

Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located on College Avenue at 12th Street.
