Dr. Gretchen Schlabach, ATC, of Northern Illinois University will present "Doing the Right Thing: Ethical Practice in Athletic Training" on Monday, April 13, at 7 p.m. at the Maas Center at Hope College through the Distinguished Lecture Series in Sports Medicine.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
Schlabach has been a practicing athletic trainer for more than 25 years and currently is an associate professor and athletic training program director at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. She received the Great Lakes Athletic Trainer's Association Dedicated Service Award in 2008, the Gordon Stoddard Research Award in 2006, and the National Athletic Trainer's Association Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award in 2000. She holds her undergraduate degree from Ithaca College, her master's degree from Indiana University, and her doctorate in exercise physiology from the University of Maryland.
The Distinguished Lecture Series in Sports Medicine is designed for health care professionals with an interest in physically active patients, and is intended for students, educators and clinicians alike. It is co-sponsored by Shoreline Orthopaedics, Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan, Holland Hospital and the college. Schlabach's address on April 13 is additionally co-sponsored by the college's department of philosophy.
