Hope College’s Brett Slayton has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
The sophomore from Holland, Michigan (Hamilton HS) recorded a personal-best time of
25 minutes, 21 seconds to lead the Flying Dutchmen at the Grand Rapids Community College
Invitational on Saturday at Prairie Wolf Park in Caledonia, Michigan.
Slayton surpassed his previous best for an 8K run by more than a minute. He finished
24th out of 148 runners.
Slayton helped Hope place seventh out 13 teams.
This is the first time Slayton has been named MIAA Men’s Cross Country Runner of the
Week.
