Student Success Systems
Hope uses a variety of systems to support student success and the many ways faculty and staff work with students. These systems include Banner (the student information system database), CARE reporting, Moodle and others.
This page highlights three key tools: My College Account, Degree Works and Hope Advise. Together, these systems help advisors, faculty and staff access important student information, monitor academic progress and provide coordinated support that helps students achieve their academic goals and successfully complete their degrees.
These three systems are all accessible through the Hope App under Tools, then My College Account.
My College Account
My College Account (Banner Self-Service 9) is Hope’s official system of record for student, faculty and employee services. Introduced in fall 2025, it replaced plus.hope.edu.
Students use My College Account to:
- Register for classes
- View grades and unofficial transcripts
- Access their class schedules
- Access other resources like Degree Works, Schedule Planner, apply to graduate, grant proxy (parent) access to their account, and tuition payment and financial aid information.
Faculty use My College Account to:
- View class rosters and waitlists
- Submit midterm and final grades
- View course assignments
Employees also use My College Account to access tax information, pay information, submit time off, etc. Contact Human Resources if you have questions about the Employee area of My College Account.
Degree Works
Degree Works is Hope’s official degree audit system, where students and advisors can monitor progress toward degree completion. It serves as the college’s source of truth for degree requirements, and students must satisfy all requirements shown in Degree Works to be eligible to graduate.
Degree Works uses the student’s academic program, including the Anchor Plan and declared major and/or minor, to display degree requirements and track completed coursework. Students who have not yet declared can use the What If feature to explore how their completed courses would apply to potential majors or minors.
Advisors can access Degree Works for their assigned advisees through Hope Advise or My College Account. Find more details about the features of Degree Works.
Hope Advise
Hope Advise, part of the Slate Student Success software, is Hope’s student success and advising platform. It supports the enrolled student experience by providing tools for advising, student outreach and communication.
Hope Advise replaced Blite for advisors in fall 2025. As additional features and functionality become available in Slate Student Success, this page will be updated with the latest information and resources.
If part of Hope Advise or My College Account is not functioning as intended, please email Stephanie Schultz, student success data and systems manager. If you have a question, would like to provide feedback or make a request, please use the form linked toward the bottom of this page.
Hope Advise Functionality Details & Instructions
New functionality
The redesign of Hope Advise enabled us to incorporate some of the functionality that was lost in the transition from plus.hope.edu to My College Account, as well as a few new things.
- Excel export of advisee lists for advisors, for creating an email list.
- Class rosters for instructors that include each student’s major(s), email address and assigned advisor. The list is exportable to Excel so that you can easily send a group email.
- Department Chairs and Assistants: Excel exports of (1) all declared majors and minors in your department and (2) all advisees in your department, regardless of major/minor. These can be used to assist with balancing advisor loads.
- Divisional Deans and Assistants: excel exports of (1) all declared majors and minors in your division and (2) all advisees in your division, regardless of major/minor.
Planned items for implementation
Below is an overview of the functionality planned for implementation in Slate Student Success. Because some features are more complex than others, implementation timelines will vary, and certain enhancements may take longer than others.
As new functionality is developed, the project team will work with individual offices and staff to understand their needs and gather input through meetings and planning discussions.
| ITEM | DESCRIPTION | ESTIMATED TIMELINE |
|---|---|---|
| Appointments | Allow students to make appointments with their advisor through Slate Student Success. | September 2026 |
| Student communications | Begin sending current student emails through Slate Student Success, including registration information, calendar deadlines, low midterm grades, and probation notices. In partnership with Admissions, these communications will share a consistent look and feel with the messages prospective and deposited students receive through Slate Admissions. | September 2026 |
| Athletics views | Hope Advise views for coaches and athletic trainers. Will replace aging Blite functionality. | December 2026 |
| Specialized student group views | Hope Advise views for employees who oversee specialized student groups such as Hope Forward and Phelps Scholars. | December 2026 |

| Tutor matching | Replace the aging Blite tutor matching software for Academic Success Center. | December 2027 |
| Registrar form workflows | Implement form workflows for major/minor declarations and substitutions. | May 2028 |
Reviewed functionality
Some requested features cannot be implemented due to software limitations or student privacy concerns. We appreciate the feedback we’ve received and want to provide additional context for these requests.
Detailed schedules for advisees
Advisors requested seeing an advisee’s week-at-a-glance or detailed schedule. Unfortunately this is not possible due to software limitations. We suggest you ask the student to send you a PDF or screenshot of their schedule from My College Account, or ask the student to pull it up on their computer while you meet with them.
Detailed information for students in your courses
Instructors have requested access to detailed information about students enrolled in their courses, such as class schedules and grades in other courses. To help protect student privacy, Hope Advise will continue to limit the information displayed for students in your courses.
Hope Advise now provides basic student information for instructors, including declared major(s), primary advisor, and email address. You can access it for students registered in your class through the Courses feature in Hope Advise. Located in the left-hand navigation menu, this feature allows you view your class rosters and basic student information, as well as export it to excel to create an email list.
