Katherine Sullivan
January 8–February 9, 2018
Jamia | Studio, an exhibition of new paintings and works on paper by faculty member Katherine Sullivan, juxtaposing different cultural and period-specific painting methods to reflect shifting power dynamics. Drawing from Indian and Western culture, the work explores the boundaries between abstract and representational imagery, color and form, and direct and indirect painting technique.
Sullivan has been a Hope College professor since 2003, and has chaired the Department of Art and Art History since 2016.
