Outside the college
Professor Mitchell is married to Dina Zurchauer ’88 Mitchell. They have four children, Aleah ’17, Quincie ’18, Jalynn ’19 and Bryson. When not teaching and coaching, he enjoys family gatherings, spending time at the beach, attending Hope sporting events and engaging in various fitness activities. He also has a great appreciation for live music. The Mitchells attend Engedi Church in Holland, and really identify with the welcoming environment and upbeat energy of the worship services there.
He finds great meaning in serving as a mentor to students on campus and feels fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel with 13 Hope student athletes and three other Hope leaders on a mission trip to Ghana in 2018 through the college’s SEED program (Sports Evangelism to Equip Disciples).
