Cost and Financial Aid
Planning for college expenses is easier when you’ve got an expert on your side. We’re here to help.
Equally at home in jazz, pop, blues, R&B and Latin genres, Robert Shipley is widely
regarded as one of the most versatile, accomplished drummers of his era. So, let’s
all ask the question in unison, shall we? How did this guy come to Hope College in
serene Holland, Michigan, where he directs the jazz studies program? For a combined 205 years, eight faculty retirees have embodied and helped realize
the vision of transforming tomorrow by shaping young lives today. Dr. Thomas Bultman, professor emeritus of biology at Hope College, has received a
Fulbright-University of Turku Scholar Award to conduct research in Finland that he
hopes will one day enhance food security around the world. A talent show encouraged Hope Forward students to give to what they love on campus.
Almost three-quarters of Hope Forward students made a donation on Day of Giving. In
comparison, 2% of students who are not part of the Hope Forward program made a gift
on Day of Giving. “As an institution, we believe in truth, simple as that,” said President Matt Scogin
’02 at Hope College’s 2023 Critical Issues Symposium. “Not only that, we believe in
a God who personifies truth. Jesus has this stunning line, this world-changing line,
where he says, ‘I am truth.’ He doesn’t say, ‘I’ll show you where to find truth’;
he says, ‘I am truth.’” Stop handing out student loans, writes President Matt Scogin in USA Today. With no
limits on the amount students could borrow, colleges and universities had a clear
path to raise the sticker price of tuition year after year. At Hope, we’re working
to change that.Mentoring a New Generation of Jazz Musicians
