Priscilla Atkins of the Hope College faculty has received recognition from "Penwood Review" for a poem the journal published earlier this year.
Atkins, a librarian with the rank of assistant
professor, received an "Editor's Choice Award" for her poem
"Letter to Anne Frank," published in the journal's spring,
1997, issue. The issue marked the debut of the journal,
which is based in Los Alamitos, Calif., and designed as a
poetry publication for students, educators and writers in
the Christian community.
Atkins's poetry has appeared in publications
including "Passages North," "Southern Poetry Review," "The
Spoon River Poetry Review," "The William and Mary Review,"
"The Midwest Quarterly" and "The Nebraska Review." She has
had more than 40 works published.
She joined the Hope faculty in 1994. She holds a
B.A. from Smith College, and an M.Ed. and M.L.I.S. from the
University of Hawaii at Manoa, Honolulu.
