At an awards luncheon held at Hope College on Friday, April 24, four students and two faculty were inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda, the national music honorary society.

The ceremony took place at the end of the final
week of regular classes during the college's spring
semester.

The students included Tammy Kamphuis of West
Olive, Carrie Maines of Wyoming and Kari Vandrese of
Gladstone, all of whom are members of the graduating Class
of '98, and junior Beth Quimby of Williamsville, N.Y.
Jessica Loomis of Holland received a Sophomore Certificate
of Honor.

Also honored with membership in the society were
Wesley Ball, associate professor of music and chair of the
department, and Mihai Craioveanu, associate professor of
music.

Pi Kappa Lambda is the only honor society
recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies in
the field of music.

The organization recognizes students outstanding
in both scholarship and musicianship. The Zeta Delta
Chapter at Hope College was founded in 1987, and is part of
the national organization founded in 1918 at Northwestern
University.
