Five students and one faculty member from the department of music at Hope College were recently inducted into the Pi Kappa Lambda national music honorary society.
The induction took place during an awards luncheon
held on Friday, April 30, shortly before the conclusion of
the college's spring semester.
The students included Jill Bennink, a senior from
Holt; Jessica Loomis, a senior from Holland; Syeung Mishler,
a member of the Class of 1999 from Chesaning; Caroline Olds,
a member of the Class of 1999 from Portage; and Gwen
Veldhof, a member of the Class of 1999 from Zeeland. The
professor who was honored was Linda Strouf, who is an

recruitment coordinator in the fine arts.
In addition, Laura Donnelly, a junior from
Holland, was cited with a sophomore Certificate of Honor.
Pi Kappa Lambda recognizes students who are
outstanding in both scholarship and musicianship. Founded
in 1918 at Northwestern University, the organization is the
only honor society in the field of music recognized by the
Association of College Honor Societies.
The Zeta Delta Chapter at Hope College was founded
