Five students and one faculty member from the department of music at Hope College  were recently inducted into the Pi Kappa Lambda national music honorary society.

          The induction took place during an awards luncheon
  held on Friday, April 30, shortly before the conclusion of
  the college's spring semester.
          The students included Jill Bennink, a senior from
  Holt; Jessica Loomis, a senior from Holland; Syeung Mishler,
  a member of the Class of 1999 from Chesaning; Caroline Olds,
  a member of the Class of 1999 from Portage; and Gwen
  Veldhof, a member of the Class of 1999 from Zeeland.  The
  professor who was honored was Linda Strouf, who is an
  adjunct assistant professor of music and divisional
  recruitment coordinator in the fine arts.
          In addition, Laura Donnelly, a junior from
  Holland, was cited with a sophomore Certificate of Honor.
          Pi Kappa Lambda recognizes students who are
  outstanding in both scholarship and musicianship.  Founded
  in 1918 at Northwestern University, the organization is the
  only honor society in the field of music recognized by the
  Association of College Honor Societies.
          The Zeta Delta Chapter at Hope College was founded
  in 1987.
