The Hope College Wind Symphony and Orchestra will combine their talents in a single performance on Friday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

The Wind Symphony will be performing three pieces
by American composers: "Commando March," by Samuel Barber;
"Lincoln Portrait," by Aaron Copland; and "Tempered Steel,"
by Charles Rochester Young. Hope College President James
Bultman will join the Wind Symphony onstage to narrate
"Lincoln Portrait." The Wind Symphony will also perform a
chamber piece by Rodrigo.

The Orchestra will perform the "Light Cavalry
Overture," by Franz Von Suppe, which opens with a fanfare of
brass, progresses to a middle section of intense string
work, and concludes with the romping of horses and soldiers
off to battle. The Orchestra will also perform
Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake Ballet Suite," featuring the famous
Pas de Deux.

Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located at 12th Street
and College Avenue. Additional information may be obtained
