The Hope College Wind Symphony will open its 2001-02 season on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 8 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

A highlight of the concert will be a piece commissioned in part by the Hope College Patrons for the Arts.

The Wind Symphony will be joined by saxophonist Eric Lau for a performance of "Dream Dancer," a new saxophone concerto composed by Michael Colgrass. The piece was commissioned by 25 international wind ensembles, including the Hope College Wind Symphony, which received its support from the Patrons.

Directed by Steven Ward, the concert will also feature classical music for winds by Gustav Holst and Percy Grainger as well as pieces from American composers Cindy McTee and Morton Gould.

Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located on College Avenue at 12th Street.
