The Hope College men's tennis team has been honored for academic performance by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

 The Hope College men's tennis team has been honored for academic performance by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The 2002 Flying Dutchmen are one of 28 NCAA Division III teams named an ITA All-Academic Team for achieving a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above on a 4.0 scale.

Coached by Steve Gorno, the Flying Dutchmen finished second in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) standings this past spring.

This is the sixth straight year that Hope has earned the award.

Members of the team with their 2001-02 academic rank were: senior Matt Bradley of Hastings (Hastings HS), sophomore Keney Dugan of Holland (Holland Christian HS), sophomore Erik Frost of Midland (Midland HS), senior Josh Honholt of Grand Rapids (Forest Hills Central HS), senior Raj Malviya of Holland (Holland HS), senior Dan Mann of Spring Lake (Grand Haven HS), sophomore Derek Phelan of Warren Woods (Warren Woods Tower HS), and Jason Wagenmaker of Grand Haven (Grand Haven HS).
