The Hope College Great Performance Series will feature the Osiris Piano Trio from the Netherlands on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

Among the most highly regarded international piano trios, the Osiris Piano Trio has been performing throughout Europe and the United States since 1988 to outstanding reviews.

The "New York Times" wrote, "Edgy brilliance... largeness in every musical dimension of color, dynamic range and expression."

The Osiris Trio (consisting of violoinst Vesko Eschkenazy, pianist Ellen Corver and cellist Larissa Groeneveld) was founded in 1988, and has since been playing all over the world. The trio has also released six critically acclaimed CDs. The trio's repertoire is broad and diverse, and ranges from Haydn's piano trio work to the works of contemporary composers. The Osiris Trio was recently nominated by the Classical Music Jury of the VSCD (Association of Theatre and Concert Management Boards) in the category of "most impressive performance by a (small) ensemble for chamber music."

"The Osiris Trio's playing is alive and often out of this world," "The Cleveland Plain Dealer" said. "(They) blend utmost cohesion and tonal focus with expressive subtlety and urgency."

The program will include Ludwig van Beethoven's "Piano Trio in B Flat Major, Op. 97 (Archduke)," Frank Martin's "Piano Trio on Irish Folk Tunes (1925)," and Maurice Ravel's "Piano Trio."

Tickets for the performance are $15 for regular adult admission, $12 for senior citizens, and $5 for children 18 and under. Tickets are available now and may be purchased by calling (616) 395-7890 or visiting the theatre lobby ticket office in the DeWitt Center weekdays between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
