Dr. Glenn Moots of the Northwood University faculty will explore the topic "Is There Such a Thing as a Christian America?" on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 4 p.m. in the Fried-Hemenway Auditorium in the Martha Miller Center for Global Communication at Hope College.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

Moots is a professor of philosophy and political science, and director of the Forum for Citizenship and Enterprise, at Northwood University in Midland. His publications include the book "Politics Reformed: The Anglo-American Legacy of Covenant Theology."

Sponsored by the departments of political science, religion and history at Hope, the lecture will discuss whether America is a Christian nation, whether it ever was one and whether it is even possible for America to be one. Moots's talk will examine the intersection of religious and political life in the American context, and explore the relevance of the debates to contemporary politics.

The Martha Miller Center for Global Communication is located at 257 Columbia Ave., at the corner of Columbia Avenue and 10th Street.
