Integrative Learning programs and experiences combine academic education with learning beyond the traditional classroom, integrating students’ knowledge, skills and personal backgrounds as whole individuals.
Integrative Learning Activities
Each Integrative Learning program and experience is crafted for students from different backgrounds and majors to explore a common theme with faculty and staff. These experiences can occur during a single event or workshop — or span several weeks, an academic year or an entire college experience. Together, students, faculty and staff make discoveries, develop skills and deepen their understanding of themselves, others and the world.
It’s possible to participate in more than one program, and some common Integrative Learning experiences are:
- Service learning and community service projects
- Professional development, leadership, and college student success workshops
- Community-building retreats
- Shared college courses with other participants
- Traveling on off-campus trips to cultural events and centers
- Visiting local festivals and community events
- Attending Spring Break Immersion Learning trips
- Living in the same residence hall as other participants
- Celebrations and banquets
