Delegates

Hope College welcomes delegates to participate in the academic processional of the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony. Delegates are members of the faculty or administration or an individual appointed to represent an academic institution or learned society.  Delegates will participate in full academic regalia.

Delegate Registration and Regalia Check

Check-in for delegates will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. noon in the lobby of the Haworth Hotel & Conference Center. If you are renting regalia, please let the registration staff know; you can pick it up following the luncheon, prior to the processional line-up. You may leave other personal belongings at the check-in if you would prefer not to carry those items during the processional.

Robing and Prep for Processional Line Up

At 1:30 p.m., trustees, delegates of colleges and universities, representatives of learned societies, and members of the platform party may put on their regalia and prepare for the processional in the Donnelly Room at the Haworth Hotel & Conference Center.

Trustees, delegates of colleges and universities, representatives of learned societies, and members of the platform party will line up for the processional at 2:00 p.m. on 10th Street, in front of the Haworth Hotel & Conference Center. In the event of inclement weather, line-up will take place on the first floor of Graves Hall. (Graves Hall is located right next to Dimnent Memorial Chapel… it’s the building with the anchor in front!)

Installation Ceremony

The processional for the installation ceremony, taking place at Dimnent Memorial Chapel, will begin promptly at 2:30 p.m. The order of processional will be:

  1. Faculty
  2. Delegates of colleges and universities (led by faculty marshals)
  3. Representatives of learned societies
  4. Trustees
  5. Platform party

Members of the processional will enter the chapel in pairs, then split off to enter the stage from the left and right sides; please follow the faculty marshals’ guidance. Delegates of colleges and universities and representatives of learned societies will be seated on the stage and in the choir loft behind the platform party, as directed.

For the recessional, the group will exit the chapel in the reverse order. Faculty marshals will dismiss the group by rows.
