Off-Campus Study

Some things to consider as a sociology or social work major as you plan your off-campus study experience:

For sociology students

• We recommend that you study off campus during either semester of your junior year or the first semester of senior year
• The following courses must be taken on Hope’s campus: Theory (fall), Methods (spring), and Capstone (spring)
• Sociology majors can study at nearly every location Hope offers
• It is important to meet with your academic advisor regarding courses you plan on taking off campus and how this fits within your academic plan, particularly credits counting toward your major (be sure to provide appropriate course descriptions)

For social work students

• Early planning is essential; please meet with the social work program director as soon as possible if you are thinking of studying off-campus
