Hope College junior Ellen Colenbrander of Holland
(Holland HS) finished 19th in a field of 63 golfers at the NCAA
Division II/III championships in Orlando, Fla.
Competing in the national tournament for the third
consecutive year, Colenbrander finished fifth among the 14
individual golfers who qualified for the tournament with rounds
of 86-85-85-81--335.
The tournament medalist was Lisa Cave of Florida Southern
with 77-81-75-80--313.
As a freshman, playing on the same Howey-In-The-Hills course
as this year's tournament, Colenbrander finished 53rd with rounds
of 94-97-95-92--378. As a sophomore she finished seventh in the
national field.
Colenbrander is a three-time Michigan Intercollegiate
Athletic Association (MIAA) all-conference golfer and has been
the league medalist twice in his collegiate career (1996 and
1998).
