"Big Top," an exhibition of work by
graduating majors in art and art history, will be featured
in the gallery of the De Pree Art Center at Hope College
from Friday, April 6, through Sunday, May 6.
There will be an opening reception on Friday,
April 6, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
The public is invited to the exhibition and the
reception. Admission is free.
The exhibiting studio art majors are Lara Alderman
of Traverse City; Michelle Bovenkerk of South Bend, Ind.;
Shawna Decker of Grand Rapids; Jay Dietsche of Algonquin,
Ill.; Jessica Gutierrez of Pella, Iowa; Jon Hamm of Grand
Rapids; Susan Lawrence of Schaumburg, Ill.; Janel Miller of
Holland; Colin Mulder of Holland; Carrie Olson of Ludington;
Andrew Otis of East Jordan; Jennifer Riley of Grand Rapids;
and Sarah Shibley of Canajoharie, N.Y. Work represented in
the show ranges from painting and photography to ceramics
and mixed media sculpture.
Also on display are the senior papers of
graduating art history majors Jennifer Hoover of Sturgeon
Bay, Wis.; Sopheap Sam of San Jose, Calif.; and Brian
Wondergem of Johnson City, Tenn. The students will give
slide presentations of their papers on Thursday, April 19,
at 7 p.m. in Cook Auditorium of the De Pree Art Center.
The De Pree Art Center is located on Columbia
Avenue at 12th Street. Regular gallery hours are Monday
through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1
p.m. to 5 p.m. Hours may be reduced during breaks and
holidays. The gallery is handicapped accessible.
