Hope College students earned a variety
of honors during statewide auditions held on campus by the
National Association of Teachers of Singing on Saturday,
March 31.

The Hope students won a total of three First Place
awards, two Third Place awards and three Honorable Mentions.

Students from throughout Michigan competed in the
event for cash awards and the opportunity to perform at the
event's Awards Ceremony. Approximately 155 singers
participated.

The three Hope students who earned First Place
awards, and their categories, are: senior Greg Frens of
Grand Rapids, Senior Men; junior Jeremy Lydic of Eldridge,
Iowa, Junior Men; and junior Quincy Marr of Gridley, Ill.,
Musical Theatre. Each sang in the event's final recital.

The students who won Third Place awards are: 
sophomore Noelle Davids of Big Rapids, Sophomore Women; and
senior Jennifer Kaufmann of Okemos, Musical Theatre.

The students who earned Honorable Mention are: 
freshman Joe Gutowski of Muskegon, Freshman Men; junior
Sarah Proulx of Ionia, Junior Women; and sophomore Crystal
Stabenow of Mount Pleasant, Sophomore Women.

The Hope students' teachers are Linda Dykstra,
Brad Richmond, Margaret Kennedy Dygas and Stuart Sharp.
