The ever-popular Children's Performance Troupe (CPT) of the Hope Summer Repertory Theatre returns this summer with two musicals.
The fun opens with a musical version of the Grimm Brother's fairy tale, The Bremen Town Musicians. Four animals that outlive their usefulness on the farm head to Bremen to escape their masters and become musicians. But along the way they find a new place to live, if they can just get rid of the robbers living there. Fast thinking, quick reflexes, and a dose of good luck show that these aspiring musicians still have a lot to offer. The story was adapted for the stage by Kim Esop Wylie, with music composed by Joe Dreyer.
Bremen Town Musicians is performed at 10:30 a.m. on June 26, 28, July 1, 3, 5, 8, 17, 22, 29, August 2 and 7. Performances at 1:30 p.m. occur on July 31, August 5 and 9.
Judith Viorst's well-know book, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is put to music by Sheely Markham for CPT's second show. Everyone, including children, can have a very bad day. But finding something funny in a bad day can make things okay for everyone, and that is just what happens when CPT gets involved.

Both plays are under the direction of Jason Lambert, best know to children as Joseph in HSRT's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
