Hope College staff members were recognized for service during the college's 24th annual service award celebration, held in conjunction with a luncheon at the college's Haworth Inn and Conference Center on Friday, June 11.

Hope College staff members were recognized for service during the college's 24th annual service award celebration, held in conjunction with a luncheon at the college's Haworth Inn and Conference Center on Friday, June 11.

Retiring employees recognized were: Steve DeRidder, physical plant; Martin Strang, physical plant; Martha Swank, Program for the Academically Talented at Hope (PATH); and Dwayne Teusink, DeWitt Tennis Center.

Honored for 35 years of service were Jon Huisken (registrar) and Norman "Bunko" Japinga (transportation).

Employees honored for 30 years of service were: Mark Cook (Hope-Geneva Bookstore), Phyllis Hooyman (financial aid), Jeanne Kinkema (Hope-Geneva Bookstore), Sandy Tasma (college advancement) and John Woldring (physical plant).

Recognized for 25 years of service were: Gary Camp (admissions), Timothy Dys (physical plant), Kevin Gardner (physics), Alfredo Gonzales (provost's office) and Douglas Wehrmeyer (physical plant).

Employees honored for 20 years of service were: Ann Alderink (physical plant), Susan Feldkamp (college advancement), Joy Forgwe (economics, management and accounting), Fonda Green (Children's After School Achievement Program), Myra Kohsel (English), Andrea Mireles (Upward Bound) and Susanne Smith (Hope-Geneva Bookstore).

Fifteen-year honorees were: Georgia deHaan (admissions), Carol DeJong (registrar's office), Derek Emerson (arts coordinator), Glen Groeneveld (physical plant), Cynthia Groters (financial aid), Carl Heideman (computing and information technology), Robert Hunt (physical plant), Joan Kamps (physical plant), Greg Olgers (public and community relations), Janet Pinkham (Academic Support Center), Gordon VanderYacht (kinesiology) and Kathy Waterstone (music).

Honored for 10 years of service were: Dwight Beal (campus ministries), Paul Boersma (campus ministries), Norma Buursma (physical plant), Carol Fritz (admissions), Beverly Harper (office of the dean for the natural sciences), Patricia Keller (human resources), Deborah Nykamp (advancement services), Kimberly Salisbury (advancement services), Deborah Sanderson (Hope-Geneva Bookstore), Shelly Schrotenboer (physical plant), Lori Trethewey (Joint Archives of Holland) and Anthony VanHouten (physical plant).
