The Distinguished Lecture Series in Sports Medicine at Hope College will close its 2005-06 season with the address "Foot Biomechanics and Lower Leg Pain" on Monday, April 3, at 7 p.m. in the Maas Center.
The presentation will be by Scott Miller, P.T. Miller is the manager of sports medicine at GRSportsCenter in Grand Rapids.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
Miller will discuss the importance of evaluating the foot and ankle when dealing with any lower extremity injury, particularly the over-use injuries common among high school, college, professional and recreational athletes involved in sports that require running. He will also discuss videotaped gait analysis, therapeutic intervention, orthotic therapy and overall rehabilitation considerations.
Miller is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Michigan Physical Therapy Association's Institute for Education and Research. He is an active presenter on sports medicine topics. In addition, he has been involved in a number of community-based running, hockey and golf medicine clinics and workshops in West Michigan.
The Distinguished Lecture Series in Sports Medicine, which features a variety of topics, is designed for health care professionals with an interest in physically active patients, and is intended for students, educators and clinicians alike. It is co-sponsored by Shoreline Orthopaedics, Orthopaedic Associates of Grand Rapids, GRSportsCenter and the college.
