Jars of Clay and special guest Derek Webb will perform at Hope College on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 8 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.
The concert is co-sponsored by the Hope College Concert Series and the Veritas Forum at Hope, and is scheduled in conjunction with this year's Veritas Forum, which is being held on Thursday-Sunday, Jan. 11-14, and examining "American Idols: Losing Our Address on the Way Home." The artists will also be participating in other Veritas Forum events.
Jars of Clay is a multi- Grammy-winning and platinum-selling Christian rock band. The group's most recent album, "Good Monsters," released in the fall of 2006, was named "Album of the Year" by "CCM Magazine."
Jars of Clay formed in the early 1990s while the members were attending Greenville College in Illinois, and released its self-titled debut album in 1995. The group's name comes from 2 Corinthians 4:7.
Singer-songwriter Derek Webb was a member of the Christian band Caedmon's Call until 2003, when he embarked on a solo career. He has since released three albums, including most recently "Mockingbird."
Tickets for the concert are $20 for the general public, and $10 for Hope students and members of the college's faculty and staff, and are available at the ticket office in the front lobby of the DeVos Fieldhouse, which can be called at (616) 395-7890. Tickets will be sold on Thursday-Friday, Dec. 21-22, from noon to 5 p.m.; on Wednesday-Friday, Jan. 3-5, from noon to 5 p.m.; and on Monday-Friday, Jan. 8-12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The DeVos Fieldhouse is located on Fairbanks Avenue between Ninth and 11th streets. Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located on College Avenue at 12th Street.
The doors will open at 7:30 p.m. on the night of the concert.
