The 33rd Hope College Run-Walk will be held on Friday, Oct. 14, at 6:30 p.m. at the west entrance of the DeVos Fieldhouse in conjunction with the college's Homecoming Weekend.

The weekday and time is a shift from previous years, when the event was held on Saturday mornings.

The Run-Walk is sponsored by the Born Clinic in cooperation with the college's department of kinesiology.

Competitive runners will participate in a 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) run beginning at the DeVos Fieldhouse at 6:30 p.m. and continuing to Windmill Island Gardens.  Age group awards will be given for the run (14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over).

The 3,200-meter (two-mile) prediction walk will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the DeVos Fieldhouse and travel through the Hope campus. The 10 best predictions, estimating the amount of time the competitor will require to complete the walk, will win a Hope prize package.

A T-shirt will be provided for participants who register by Saturday, Oct. 8, but entries will be accepted on Friday, Oct. 14, at 5:50 p.m. Competitors may dress and shower at the DeVos Fieldhouse.

The registration fee is $20 for each competitive event, with an added $10 per event after the October 8 deadline. Registration forms are available online at www.hope.edu/alumni/RunWalk11.pdf as well as at the kinesiology office in the DeVos Fieldhouse, which can be called at (616) 395-7070.
