Hope College’s Jason Beckman has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played November 13-18.
The junior guard from Shelby, Michigan (Shelby HS) is recognized after averaging 22.0
points per game during the inaugural Great Lakes Invitational last weekend in Marietta,
Ohio.
Beckman led Hope to a 1-1 record at the tournament. He scored a game-high 26 points
on Friday during a 102-71 loss to Marietta.
Beckman shot 57.1 from the field (8-of-14) and 3-point range (4-7), while also making
all six of his free-throw attempts.
Beckman totaled 16 points, a team-high four assists and three rebounds during a 97-86
win against St. John Fisher on Saturday. He shot 50 percent from the field (5-10)
and 6-of-6 from the foul line.
This is the first time Beckman has claimed MIAA Player of the Week honors as a member
of the Flying Dutchmen.
