Covid-19 Faculty Development Resources

COVID-19 has had a significant impact on our annual faculty activity. Here are resources and procedures for changes implemented by the Provost’s Office to account for this disruption.

Rider Policy for COVID-19 Impact on Tenure Clocks

All faculty members in the probationary period will receive the opportunity for a one-year extension to the probationary clock. In such a case, the 2020–21 academic year will serve as the same year on the tenure clock as the 2019–20 academic year.

Tenure & Promotion Clock Extension Form

Faculty members who select the one-year extension will be kept in the same year of their probationary period for the 2020–21 academic year. Faculty who select to stay on their current probationary clock will continue as they normally would.

For those who select the one-year extension, the notification deadlines are as follows:

  • For faculty members currently in years 2–5 of the probationary period, requests for a one-year extension of the probationary period will be taken until July 31, 2021.
  • For faculty members currently in year 1 of the probationary period, requests for a one-year extension of the probationary period will be taken until December 15, 2021.

Once a selection is made and conveyed to the Provost’s Office via the tenure clock option selection form, a copy will be stored in Banner and the personnel file (to ensure accurate information is known across campus).
