Awards
The Student Development Office is seeking nominations from the Hope College community for the Vanderbush-Weller Award, the Community Service Award, the Southland Award and the Peter Bol Award.
Vanderbush-Weller Award
This award provides an opportunity for the college to recognize and support the efforts
of faculty, staff and administrators who make extraordinary contributions to the lives
of students above and beyond what is expected in their regular assignments. Faculty, staff and students are invited to nominate individuals.
Nominations due by February 18, 2025
Community Service Award
This award is presented to a student whose record reflects strong evidence of volunteer
service within the Hope College or Holland community within the past year. The award
recipient will be recognized during Honors Convocation in April. Faculty and staff are invited to nominate students.

Southland Award
The Southland Award is a gold medal given to the senior who, based on nominations
received from the faculty and determined by the Dean of Students, has maintained the
highest standard of all-around scholarship in several fields, character and citizenship
during the four years of their college career. The award recipient will be recognized
during Honors Convocation in April. Faculty only are invited to nominate students.

Peter Bol Award
The Peter Bol Award is given to a upperclass student who, in the estimation of the
Personnel Deans and Counseling staff, has made an outstanding contribution in counseling
and helping underclass students, and who gives promise of a career of service to youth.
The award recipient will be recognized during Honors Convocation in April. Faculty and staff are invited to nominate students.
