Fascial Maneuvers

Are you ready to try something a little different, something that will unwind your fascia in a way that will reduce stress and open your body up to better receive healing? (Sure thing! But what in the world is fascia?) Fascia is connective tissue that runs all throughout our body that holds memories and emotions. (Ya know, those things you stuff and store because you don't want to deal with them?) A fascial maneuver (what you'll be learning!) is a mix of intention, movement and breath that releases the tension that restricts our movements and countless bodily functions. The body can't heal when it's under stress, and *spoiler alert*, we’re all under stress due to the food we eat, our environment and the pain/emotions we store. The amazing thing about fascial maneuvers is that they reduce your stress level by about 80%, freeing up more space and energy for your body to unwind and heal. Over time and with consistency, performing maneuvers can eradicate pain and initiate healing, anything from muscular dysfunction to hormonal imbalance.

Fascial Maneuvers were created by Human Garage, a team of people that combined their decades of clinical knowledge of the body to create moves that manipulate fascia in a way that allows the body to unwind and open up to healing. While previously only done in a clinical setting with a practitioner, the moves were modified so they could be shared with anyone willing to learn. Each class will start off with the stress reset/organ reset. After the basics, we'll add in some of the other core moves, giving special attention to a different area each class.

Nia + Barre

Nia is an expressive body-mind-spirit movement program that offers an artistic and innovative approach to fitness. Blending aspects of martial arts, dance arts and healing arts, Nia provides a variety of movement dynamics to create an experience that involves your whole body. The stillness and concentration of tai chi, the dynamic poses of yoga, the explosive power of tae kwon do, and the grace and spontaneity of modern and ethnic dance make it possible to create a whole new sense of well-being. The body barre workout is fun, full body workout set to upbeat music that strengthens and tones the whole body. Both are non-impact and practiced barefoot. Come experience some life-changing mind-body cardio and strength using our own body's way of moving. No special attire is needed for this class. (Indoor shoes may be worn if you have foot issues, but they must be dedicated indoor shoes!)
