The following information includes the links to documents needed prior to consideration of your admission to the Hope College TRIO Upward Bound program.

UB applicant and parents, please complete the following Upward Bound Application and identify and ask the appropriate persons to complete the On-Going Records Release, Teacher Recommendation, and the Adult Recommendation forms.

1. Hope College TRIO Upward Bound Application requires the student and parent/guardian signatures. Once completed, press SUBMIT. The UB staff will review and assess the information to determine your eligibility and will contact each applicant by email or a phone call within 72 hours of receiving your application with an update regarding the status of your application.

2. Ask your school guidance counselor to complete the On-Going Records Release Form and provide relevant documents in consideration of your application. The Federal TRIO Upward Bound regulations 645.43 require TRIO UB to document student academic performance at the time of admission and throughout program participation. The student’s educational records and information provided by school officials are protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

3. Ask THREE (3) core teachers (English, foreign language, math, science or social studies) to complete a Teacher Recommendation Form.

4. Ask someone who is not part of the school system and is not a family member to complete Adult Recommendation Form.

5. TRIO Upward Bound participant eligibility must be documented to demonstrate proof of legal residency, low income and/or first generation status as mandated by 645.3 and 645.4 of the Upward Bound Program Regulations. Applicants will be required to submit proof of family income and legal residency in consideration of eligibility.

5. La elegibilidad de los participantes de TRIO Upward Bound debe documentarse para demostrar la residencia legal, los bajos ingresos y/o el estado de primera generación segón lo estipulado en 645.3 y 645.4 de las regulaciones del programa Upward Bound. Eligibility

We welcome applications from students who:

• Demonstrate need (financial and academic): TRIO is a federally funded program that is free for students whose family meets the federal register income guidelines and/or who meet first-generation requirements (i.e., your parents do not have a four-year degree).
• Demonstrate academic promise: The ability, motivation and commitment to succeed will be assessed by recommendations and standardized test scores required with your Upward Bound application. 
• Demonstrate college aspirations as evidenced by recommendations and a personal interview. 
• Attend one of the three TRIO Upward Bound target schools:
  
  1. Fennville High School
  2. Holland High School
  3. West Ottawa High School
