Strings
We play a dynamic role in preparing and creating performing opportunities for aspiring music students in their artistic pursuits.
Our highly acclaimed string faculty provide private studio instruction for music and non-music majors in weekly half-hour or hour lessons. Offering instruction in all the classical stringed instruments (violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp and classical guitar), students have the opportunity to perform in solo recitals, departmental recitals and weekly studio classes.
Our chamber music program offers a variety of possibilities from quartets, quintets and mixed chamber ensembles and include weekly coaching sessions by one of our esteemed faculty members.
Several of our our string alumni have received scholarships at prestigious graduate music schools and conservatories in the United States and Europe. Frequently, our students win renowned string competitions or auditions in professional groups, while others currently hold teaching positions throughout the country and are elected to important leadership positions in ASTA.
